Typically remakes fail to live up to the standards set by the original material. In the case of the 2004 "Battlestar Galactica" series, the quality of the show surpasses the fun, campy 1980 series. With greater drama provided by show head Ron Moore, a veteran of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and a cast of quality actors, this "Galactica" is a character driven sci-fi drama that focuses as much on the human elements as the sci-fi action.
In the episode 1.3, "Bastille Day", Tom Zarek is played by Richard Hatch that was captain Apollo in the original Battlestar Galactica.
